Programs that Lead to Careers

Whether you want to transfer to a four-year college after SUNY Ulster or join the workforce, we’re always thinking careers. At the end of your college journey, whether right after Ulster or after receiving your Bachelor’s or Master’s, you’ll need to start your career.

Our programs are aligned with the workforce needs of Hudson Valley industries. Look at our program descriptions and you’ll find a listing of job titles and N.Y.S. Department of Labor information on salaries and career growth.

No Tuition is Our Mission

As tuition costs continue to rise at colleges around the country, SUNY Ulster is significantly more affordable. Many of our students pay little to no tuition by taking advantage of one or more of the following:
  • Financial Aid: The vast majority of our students receive Pell and TAP grants by filing their FAFSA.
  • Scholarships: SUNY Ulster awards $1 Million in scholarships annually to incoming, continuing, and graduating students who are transferring to a four-year college.
  • College Scholars Program: If you rank in the top 10% of your class and attend an Ulster County High School, this program may cover whatever tuition is left over after your Pell and TAP awards.
  • President’s Challenge Scholarship: For 8th graders of Ulster County high schools who will be the first in their families to attend college and have need, the President’s Challenge Scholarship provides full tuition for two years, if selected . Interested students should talk to their guidance counselors about how to apply.

We strive to address the needs of all learners. From tutoring and counseling to career and transfer services, help is available every step of the way. Feel stressed? Spend ten minutes in the Zen Den. There is childcare on the Stone Ridge campus so parents can attend classes knowing their child is safe and happy. We even have an app - SUNYUlsterSupports.me - where every service and resource you’ll ever need can be easily found.

Transferability

SUNY Ulster’s A.A. and A.S. degrees are designed for students who want to transfer to attain their four-year degree. Transferring within the SUNY system is a seamless process. After Ulster is a great on-campus resource for coordinating your transfer with colleges both inside and outside of the SUNY system.

SUNY Ulster believes in real-world experience. Our Environmental Studies students conduct field research for the DEC along the Hudson River and Ashokan Reservoir. Vet Tech students spend six days at Farm Camp at SUNY Delhi as their Large Animal laboratory experience. Green Building Maintenance and Management students are given hands-on training in photovoltaic cells, wind generators, geothermal heating, ventilation, and air condition (HVAC) systems.
