Learning Strategy Specialist

For Students:

Our Learning Strategy Specialist is here as a support to help you become an independent learner and achieve academic success. Students can learn time management and study skills, including instruction in memorization techniques, note taking, test taking, and reading comprehension. Get help studying or overcoming math and/or test anxiety. Find out what your learning style is and how to use that information to maximize your learning potential.  Hour-long sessions are available on an as-needed or on a regular basis as a support to you throughout the semester.

The Learning Strategy Specialist is available to speak to your class about study skills and other CAPS services.  We are also available to tailor a presentation around course content material.

CAPS Tutoring

CAPS offers both peer-based and professional tutoring services for individual students and in groups. Students benefit from a comprehensive system of support ranging from help in a specific course to detailed instruction in writing and study skills.

NetTutor

An online tutoring option that is available 24/7. Access to the link for NetTutor is located ub Brightspace under Academic Support.

 

Partner Advising

Partner Advisors work in tandem with you Program Advisor, providing support as needed. If your schedule does not permit you to meet with your assigned Program Advisor, make an appointment for help creating your educational map, register for courses and/or to add/drop a class. Partner Advisors will act as your point of reference regarding any track or class.

 

Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)

The EOP provides help to students through mentorship, academic programs, financial assistance, counseling/advising, and other campus support services to those who are first-generation college students, and/or from low-income and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds.
