SUNY Ulster is committed to helping students successfully transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

SUNY Ulster is committed to helping students successfully transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

Each year, with the help of our Transfer Advisors, our students successfully transfer to some of the best four-year institutions in the nation. By starting college at SUNY Ulster and transferring upon graduation, you can

Save money - Finish the first two years of your Bachelor's degree for thousands of dollars less than it would cost to do so at a four-year college or university.

  • Become a better student - Raise your academic performance, making you a more attractive transfer.

Transfer advisors help students explore colleges, select courses, connect with four-year college representatives, and complete applications.

We encourage students to begin planning for transfer early in their academic career, preferably as soon as their first semester.

SUNY Ulster has numerous articulation agreements, not only with other colleges within the SUNY system, but with four-year colleges in a variety of fields. These agreements ensure that students' course work and credits will transfer to the specified college or university.

Jointly Registered Programs

SUNY Ulster is proud to offer a jointly registered teacher education program with SUNY New Paltz that is approved by the New York State Education Department. The program has two certification options, each with two areas of specialization:

Early Childhood & Childhood Education: Birth to Sixth Grade (B-6)

  • Humanities and Social Science

  • Mathematics and Science

Adolescence Education: Seventh to Twelfth Grade (7-12)

  • Humanities and Social Science

  • Mathematics and Science

If you are enrolled in a Jointly Registered Teacher Education Program and you complete your AA or AS degree and meet New Paltz's transfer requirements, you may transfer to New Paltz with full junior standing to complete your bachelor's degree.

Although a 2.75 cumulative minimum grade point average is required, SUNY New Paltz relies heavily on accepting students with higher GPAs. As a transfer student, you must meet the same requirements for entrance into the major of choice as are required of SUNY New Paltz students.
